Foreword

The volume collects several and important contributions from a group of scholars who have been working for years on the historical, cultural, social, economic, political, geo-strategic features of the MENA (Middle Eastern and North African) Countries. The recent events related with COVID19 pandemic and Russian-Ukrainian war, with their consequences at global and European level, have further accelerated the geo-political changes in this area (security, energy diversification, food, migration) asking for a profound rethinking of EU cooperation and partnership policies with one of the most complex area of the world.

The presentation of the volume is an opportunity for comparing with realism the new scenario in the enlarged Mediterranean with EU institutions, social partners and civil society representatives with political foundations and wider stakeholders.
